New Apple Jing’an store in Shanghai now open

Apple CEO Tim Cook has opened the doors to Apple Jing’an — the iPhone maker’s new flagship store located near Jing’an Temple and Jing’an Park in Shanghai.
The store, touted by Apple as a “one-of-a-kind shopping destination,” welcomes customers through a grove of maple trees lining the upper plaza, offering views of the landmark Jing’an Temple as they approach. As customers descend the stairs, they pass terracing and double-curved walls that extend forward in a circle to form amphitheater seating, which will host Today at Apple events in-store.
Upon entering the expansive store from the lower level, customers can explore the surrounding avenues and display tables, showcasing the latest Apple products and services. Once inside the store, visitors can travel between floors using the central feature staircase or through the stainless steel elevator.

The store opened on Thursday, March 21, with Apple CEO Tim Cook and Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s SVP of Retail, welcoming crowds of customers through the glass facade.
To celebrate the opening, Apple Jing’an will host a special six-week Today at Apple program that pays homage to the local community and its creatives. The series, Let Diverse Creativity Bloom in Jing’an, will show Shanghai’s creator-community how to use the capabilities of iPhone.

“We’re thrilled to open Apple Jing’an — a store that seamlessly blends the traditional with the modern and perfectly complements this historic neighborhood in Shanghai,” said Deirdre O’Brien in a statement online. “From our phenomenal iPhone lineup to the new 13- and 15- inch MacBook Air, Apple Jing’an brings all of our products and services together with an amazing team to create a truly magical shopping experience for our customers.”
The store’s opening festivities included a special performance by the youngest members of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Customers who entered the store on the morning of the launch were given a special Apple Jing’an gift box.
