Apple again rumored to bring 120Hz ProMotion displays to all iPhone 17 models, including non-Pro versions
Apple is once again rumored to be bringing 120Hz ProMotion displays to all iPhone 17 models, including the non-Pro versions.
According to an industry source cited by South Korea’s ETNews this week (via MacRumors), Apple is destined to bring ProMotion to all models in next year’s iPhone lineup, a technology that enhances screen smoothness and responsiveness, significantly improving the user experience.
ProMotion automatically adjusts the screen refresh rate, optimizing how quickly images are updated. This effect is particularly noticeable when scrolling through web pages, playing games, or watching videos. With ProMotion, on-screen movements appear more fluid, and animations are smoother. Additionally, it can conserve battery life by lowering the refresh rate for static content, such as reading a text-heavy page.
Rumors of 120Hz ProMotion for all iPhone 17 models are not new. Earlier this year, The Elec reported that the 2025 non-Pro lineup would also feature always-on displays and improved 120Hz support.
As we are still a year away from the iPhone 17’s launch, few other rumors have emerged. However, there is speculation that all models may receive an upgraded front camera, potentially a 24-megapixel sensor, compared to the 12-megapixel sensor in the current lineup. This upgrade could enhance low-light performance by optimizing light transmission to the sensor.
