2025 Apple Watch SE to feature a ‘new look’
The upcoming Apple Watch SE, set to launch in September 2025, is expected to sport a new design and several new updates, according to analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. While specific details about the redesign remain unclear, Gurman hints that the device will feature a fresh look, marking a departure from previous versions of the smartwatch.
In his weekly “Power On” newsletter, Gurman pointed to a potential change in the Apple Watch SE’s form factor, following its last update in September 2022.
One of the significant changes could be the introduction of a plastic body for the Apple Watch SE, a move that would make the device more affordable while allowing for a broader selection of colors. Gurman has previously mentioned that this design shift would enable Apple to offer the smartwatch in eye-catching hues, reminiscent of the iPhone 5c’s colorful offerings, which included shades such as blue, yellow, pink, and green.
This change in material could also make the Apple Watch SE more competitive in the budget smartwatch market, appealing to users who seek an affordable yet stylish wearable. The shift to plastic would lower production costs, potentially reducing the price of the Apple Watch SE and making it more accessible for consumers.
The new plastic design may also make the Apple Watch SE a more appealing option for parents looking to purchase a wearable for their children. Gurman suggests that the next-generation model could be positioned as a more “kid-friendly” device, offering durability and a lower price point that would make it an attractive choice for families.
Currently, the Apple Watch SE is priced at $250.
In addition to the new design and affordable pricing, the upcoming Apple Watch SE is expected to feature an upgraded processor. The current model still runs on hardware from 2020, and the updated chip would improve performance, offering faster speeds and better overall functionality.
